In Stitches

  1. Snow in July

    07/27/09 01:46:15 | 0 Comments

I have started stitching my red tablecloth now that we think MIl won't be coming for Christmas. There was no point in finishing it before as should would have ruined it in 5 minutes. She is almost blind and tends so wipes things with non too clean hands.

I am trying to make myself work a large snowflake a day.
  2. Rather a long time.

    04/18/09 01:40:29 | 0 Comments

I have been knitting but just recently I picked up my stitching again. I am stitching the Burda wall hanging when I go to see Mum.

At home I am working on TW Rose Tree in Bloom in Wool Cross. I had forgotten how much I love it.

On the guilt side I need to finish TW Noah before my sister comes over. Ekkk.
  3. Not a good week

    12/17/08 06:52:40 | 0 Comments

Not a very good start to the week. I went to see Mum who had decided

the bed is too lumpy the pillows are filled with leather there is a woodern trim on the bed to keep the mattress in place the bed is electric and therefore hateful the food is not English ( they service nice food, somethings with a French twist) the en-suite is too far away (??) and she can't walk across the bedroom.
she can look after herself and doesn't need to be in a home...
  4. Total Bedlam

    12/05/08 15:42:00 | 0 Comments

I drove up to Mum's today and collected clothing for her. I bought 2 shelves to go in her room to hold her photos.

I filled the boot and a lot of the back of the car with the things I need to take down for her. Unfortunately I couldn't get the TV in.

DH has just announced he wants to use my car as his is out of petrol. This means I have to get up really early to empty the car. Its is going to take on hour or so. Alternatively he could have filled his car up as he...
  5. Smile and be happy....

    12/01/08 14:56:54 | 0 Comments

    cos things could get worse.

So I smiled and was happy

and things completely fell apart. Mother in law has got Norovirus.
  6. It never rains ....

    11/26/08 23:26:32 | 0 Comments

I have had a call from the police. My MIL 80 miles away has had a fall and is being taken to hospital. She is 87. DH is working away from home but I have managed to contact him and he will drive the 2 hours from where he is.

I thought I was just coming into calmer waters after having had mother in hospital for the last 5 months. Oh well. At least I am a dab hand at hospitals.
  7. How did that happen?

    11/11/08 07:27:57 | 0 Comments

How did I wake up and find that Christmas is not as far away as I thought? Did someone take a month out and hope I wouldn't notice?

I have got a massive list 'to do for Christmas'. I either have to grow another pair of arms (or two prs) or find a team of eleves to come round and sort out my 'to do' list.

I have got to make 5 pairs of socks for an order, a hat and mittens (WIP), knit a scarf for DH, a pr of socks for DS, 2 small tree decorations in...
  8. Braided Rib socks HD

    11/04/08 06:40:02 | 0 Comments

A couple of finishes. I finished the socks yesterday and am wearing them now.

I also spent the time and embroidered a PE top for someone. The children have to have their names on their tops so I got roped in to help.

I am now off to start a hat/mitten set for a friend. Hopefully it won't take too long as I have a pr of socks to finish this week and 2 pairs to knit before 29th November. I need to make another 2 pairs that I have been commissioned to knit for Christmas...
  9. Lizzie Kate HoHoHo HD

    11/01/08 17:58:24 | 0 Comments

I finished Lizzie Kate HoHoHo. It was really nice to stitch and really quick. I would have finished it ages ago but I got side tracked by socks.

Talk to which I am working on the Braided socks I am making in Jitterbug. I was given it as a gift and really want to finish them. I have made one last year, lost the pattern and then forgot all the changes I made to it. I am now back on track.
  10. RIP Nutkin socks

    10/28/08 15:24:40 | 0 Comments

I gave up on the Nutkin socks. My foot was too large and my socks too small. I am going to find another pattern and give that a go.

I have just finished one Braided Rib sock in Jitterbug Monet. I was given this wool by a good friend and started them last year. I got cold feet about how much wool it was taking and how much I had left. I put them to one side and promtly lost them. I have been looking for them for a couple of weeks and finally found them last night. I found the...
